Dan Shook, B.Mus
Dan Shook is an in-demand multi-instrumentalist and music educator based in Vancouver, B.C. Dan holds a Bachelor of Music Performance from the University of British Columbia, where his principal focus was studying the oboe and english horn with Beth Orson of the Vancouver Symphony. He has also spent 7 years studying improvisation and the saxophone with renowned saxophone instructor Stan Karp.
Dan believes strongly in the importance of diversity and improvisation in music and can be found performing and arranging with a wide variety of ensembles, in styles ranging from orchestral and chamber music to contemporary classical, folk, blues, jazz, reggae, and Afro-Cuban music on a variety of woodwind instruments. While he is based in Vancouver, Dan has performed in India, Japan, China, Taiwan, Cuba, Hawaii, and throughout the continental U.S. and Canada.
